It has been 20 years since the 911 terrorist attack on the United States, which included New York City and the Pentagon. Congress established Patriots Day on December 18, 2001 as a "National Day of Service and Remembrance in honor of those individuals who lost their lives. Americans are encouraged to participate in community service in honor of those our Nation lost, to observe this day with appropriate ceremonies and activities, to honor the innocent victims who perished as a result of the terrorists attacks on September 11, 2001. At this time, we ask that you observe a moment of silence to remember the 2,996 innocent victims that died from the 911 attacks and over 7,000 American Military deaths ... (silence) ... Thank You
